Bronchiectasis and Asthma are very common. Some patients have both diseases. In this
retrospective study; we aimed to study the association between severe Asthma and
bronchiectasis. This is a cross-sectional study; including sixty patients with asthma; followed-up in
our Department of Pneumology. We compared 2 groups of patients. The first group G1 included
30 patients with severe asthma and a second group G2 of 30 patients with both severe asthma
               and bronchiectasies.

Sixty patients were included, aged from 21 years to 85 years with a mean age of 55 yearsfrom
which 28 women, with a mean age of 55.3 years.10% were active smokers and 80% were exposed
to cigarette inhalation. Besides,15% had professional exposure to allergens.
25% of these cases had an associated allergic rhinitis and (10%) with an allergic conjunctivitis.
               Whereas; (5%) had associated Urticarial.

As regards with comorbidities; (15%) of our patients had associated cardiac disease; Diabetes
mellitus (30%); Hypertension (15%); renal failure (10%); Tuberculosis (2%); Adrenal insufficiency
(10%) and Psychiatric disorders (6%).The Mean duration of asthma diagnosis was 15 years with a
mean of exacerbations rate of (2.2/year).

In all these patients;.Bronchiectasies was confirmed by HRCT. It was extended in (85%) of cases.
From which; (75%) cylindrical; (50%) cystic; (15%) varicose.
               According to FACED Score; (26 %) patients had a high-risk of 5-year all-cause mortality; (26%) with
               moderate-risk of 5-year all-cause mortality; (47%) with low-risk 5-year all-cause mortality.

Patients with both Asthma and Bronchiectasies had worse Asthma control compared to the control
group (p=0.09). Therefore, they received more treatments (p=0.017). They had more exacerbations
(70% vs 26%).So, they had more hospitalizations (98% vs 2%). Besides, they had higher level of
               Anxiety(p=0.024).
To conclude, the presence of bronchiectasies is very common among patients with severe and
               uncontrolled asthma.
